Project Management Life Cycle

The project management lifecycle is comprised of five process groups. The bulk of your PMP exam prep will focuses on these five process groups and all the activities you’ll do in each group as a project manager. Here’s a quick overview of what type of work happens in each of the process groups as you move through the project:

  • Initiating: Projects are selected, authorized, and chartered. Fascinating.
  • Planning: Projects demands lots of plans, so you’ll create project management plans through 21 planning processes.
  • Executing: Once you’ve got all your project plans and project documentation your project team is ready to execute the project work.
  • Monitoring and Controlling: The project manager has to keep an eye on all the moving parts of the project – that’s what happens in this process group. Control freak!
  • Closing: Sooner or later the project gets closed. These activities document the project’s performance, the project’s deliverables, and the project’s lessons learned.

I used your video to pass my PMP a while back. Thanks for your help. Now, I am helping students to pass this exam. I am considering the possibility of using your following book as a textbook. Does your book CAPM/PMP Project Management Certification All-in-One Exam Guide with CD-ROM, have all the videos that are needed for the exam? Does that book also have instructor materials, including Powerpoint slides and test generation? I believe your book is also a ebook.

Does paying $55 get you MORE videos than those free videos you offer in your website?

My email is rlau@tcicollege.edu.

Thanks for your email! I’m pleased to hear that my videos helped you earn your PMP. The CAPM/PMP book does not include slides, but does have exams and some videos. Students could use that book and the free slides on instructing.com as a two-pronged approach for the exam. The $55 exam prep kit would include an extra boost towards thier certification. You can see the details on the Exam Prep kit here: http://instructing.com/pmp-prep-kit/
